At Northern Benchtops we enjoy participating in local sporting fundraising events, including the annual Ray White Hatea Loop Challenge. We are the proud sponsors of Mangakahia Rugby Club where I used to play, and where our ten-year old son and athlete, Chase, is now making memories of his own. The ‘Benchtop Battlers’ have also joined the Relay for Life Northland 2020 campaign to raise funds for Cancer Society New Zealand.
We are committed to reducing our environmental impact: in 2017 we were runners up for the Northland Regional Council Sustainable Business Award, a notably rare achievement for a manufacturer. We promote the sale off-cuts to reduce landfill and take smaller steps to reduce plastic waste in our operations, such as by supplying our staff with a coffee machine and reusable cups, and sourcing green product alternatives.
We are a small family business with a big heart and believe in supporting local: that means our clients, our communities and Northland’s special culture. We are deeply loyal to our clients and strive to provide them with a service we would be happy to receive. We are always willing to go above and beyond to show them how much they mean to us, such as by including care packages with each installation to thank our clients for their custom. Within these care packages are beautiful hand-made artisan goodies made right here in Northland because we believe that when locals support locals, all of Northland prospers, and that’s a culture we’re dedicated to nurturing.
Kia Ora, I’m Tommy Adams, owner and manager of Northern Benchtops. A born and bred Northlander, I began working in the benchtop industry at the age of 16, becoming a fully qualified joiner and later, a foreman for a laminate benchtop manufacturer. I founded Northern Benchtops in 2011, the same week my lovely wife and business partner Steph gave birth to our youngest daughter, Isobella, at just 25 weeks.
As our family has grown and flourished, so too has our business. Since those early days we have established a stone factory beside our original laminate factory – both of which adjoin our stunning showroom – and we have expanded our range from laminate only to include engineered stone, natural stone and, most recently, porcelain (sintered stone). We have cultivated strong partnerships with global leading brands to bring you Northland’s most extensive range of benchtop options available in a broad palette of unique finishes. By selling off-cuts we not only reduce landfill but give our clients quality and affordable surfaces for their bathroom and laundry benchtops and vanities. Additionally, we craft bespoke hearths and outdoor kitchen and BBQ surfaces from granite and porcelain. To complete your kitchen, laundry or bathroom spaces, we also source and supply designer Acero sinks.
